It's my first day in Peru...

... and I've already deduced something quite accurate. The street lanes aren't written in the Peruvian code of driving to be followed; they're more like guidelines. Riding in traffic will most likely take the most adjusting, but surprisingly, I wasn't too fearful in the car. I just wore my trusty seatbelt and rested in the knowledge that God is in control, and these drivers are experienced in this field of driving.

I've now met all the interns, and I'm highly looking forward to getting to know each individual. I know we will be able to encourage one another and bond in these next six months. I'm not quite sure how long all the interns are staying, but I imagine the majority are here for a year.

Tomorrow begins orientation here at SALI. There I'll learn about the intern process and how SALI works.

God was so gracious to me in my travels, as I met some girls in Miami heading toward Peru for a study abroad program. It was nice having some others in the same situation who could sympathize. I managed to get about three hours of sleep on the plane from Miami to Lima, and rested (but moreso got to know Amanda) while we waited for our tour.

I'm so excited about my time here, and I can't wait to share with you all more updates as time progresses!

Prayer Requests:

1. That I may have a restful night's sleep in attempt to catch up on the sleep I lost in the journey over.
2. That I may boldly seek new and encouraging relationships with the other interns.

To the Airport I Go

I'm heading to the airport in about an hour. I ask that you pray for safe travels and that I can get through customs in Peru as easily as possible. My flight leaves Dallas at 6:44pm and I'll fly out of Miami at 12:20 am. I'll land in Lima at 6:00am, and hopefully manage to get about two hours of sleep in a hotel. I look forward to posting updates as soon as possible.

Grace and Peace!

The Day is Approaching

It's hard to believe that I am leaving in six days. I'm spending the week packing, buying last minutes items, and making my room at home livable for any guests who may arrive during my absence. As time is ticking down, my heart is getting more anxious, so the time has come for me to realize my need to rest in God, trusting His control in all things. My mother is also starting to get anxious, so now is a great time to remind all of you that God is good; He has me going to Peru for a reason, and He is sovereign. I trust in Him that my final amount of support will arrive and I'll be ready to go on Saturday.

Prayer requests:

1. That preparations will get done.
2. That farewells will be meaningful and understanding.
3. That my heart will trust in the Lord.

Countdown to Peru!

This is where you will be able to find updates about my time in Peru. I'll post prayer needs and provide mission updates. As of now, I have raised 85% of my funding and I'm set to leave August 26th. More updates are soon to follow, so check back often!
